Brugge at Christmastime - Via Eurotunnel
Brugge at Christmastime - Via Eurotunnel
Saturday December 1st & 15th - £48

Now, if Christmas is a time of fairytale and make-believe, then Bruges is surely the place to be. Horses trot by with carriages in tow; the ring-a-ling of bicycle bells replace the beeping of car horns; and perfectly preserved buildings stand tightly together on pretty cobbled streets as if competing in their own beauty pageant. Add to this twinkling fairy lights, dramatically lit landmarks and a dusting of snow, and you have a magical scene fit for any Christmas story.

From our last departure point we head for Folkestone and the Eurotunnel. There may be time to purchase refreshments before your coach goes onto the train. Whilst on the shuttle train, you may leave the coach to stretch your legs. Journey time through the tunnel is approximately 35 minutes. On arrival in France we continue onto Brugge (1hr. 10mins. journey) We anticipate that you shall enjoy approximately four hours in Brugge. - this of course is subject to delays on the shuttle and traffic conditions.
Return Journey: - We expect to reach Hemel Hempstead to commence drop off's at 23.00.

The city of Bruges situated in Belgium is the perfect place to spend the holiday season. Christmas in the “Venice of the North” is very romantic and cosy. You will love to feel the spirit of Christmas there.

The first thing you’ll notice when entering the old city center is that Bruges consists of tiny houses, cobblestone streets and many canals. During the Christmas period, many of these little houses are decorated with Christmas lights and decorations. The closer you’ll get to the Grand Market (“Grote Markt”) the more restaurants, souvenir shops and deli shops you’ll find with marvelous window decorations.

Don’t hesitate to enter the shops because you’ll discover some nice suprises inside! Bruges is packed with stores that sell chocolate and other sweets such as “Babelutten” (caramel candy) and “Neuzekes” (cuberdons). In some of these you even get to taste some free samples. Another specialty you can find here is of course Belgian Beer! Belgium brews over 800 varieties of beer.

During the Christmas period you can also visit the Ice Sculpture Festival. It’s located next to the train station and simply awesome to see what people can create out of ice! There is also a great Christmas market at the Grand Market (Grote Markt) and the Simon Stevinplein, ice rink included!
